My Life so far..

I was born in Tauranga, New Zealand.  Where I grew up mostly in Te Puna which is about 15 – 20min drive from the city.  I attended Bethlehem College from kindergartner right through to High School.  I then moved out of home at the age of 17 and headed over to Hamilton.  I was planning on be coming a sparky and was left with out work after quitting my job there to start an apprenticeship(which didn’t happen in the end).  So I moved back home and started working at the local theatre again(Baycourt) as a general technician.  I also took on a side job at nights at Countdown supermarket to earn a bit more cash(that didn’t last long).

After about six months of that I headed on down to Christchurch to study studio recording.  My first year was rather basic stuff I already knew and passed with flying colours.  I went back up to Tauranga for Christmas and did some summer work at the Theatre.  Hayley Westenra was on tour at this time and I got offered to be a loader for the touring crew.  Turns out after a few beers with the crew they were all based in Christchurch, we swapped numbers and before I knew it I had a heap of casual work and basically a guaranteed full time job as a Live Sound Engineer after I finished my studies.  I’m still working for BounceNZ (formally Redd Acoustics) 4 or so years on.

In November last year I brought my first house in Christchurch.  It was a rather a large step in life, but glad I have done it while I’m still ‘young’ and single.  I am currently loving the freedom of my own house and not having to always find a new place to rent for me and my boy Toby(my puppy).  There wasn’t many places around Christchurch near the city that would allow a dog so it made it hard finding a rental.

My side project ‘WideFocus’ started when some people asked me to take some photos of shows and bits bobs here and also including web design.  I always had this thing for photography since I took it as a 6th form subject at school.  I use to have my own darkroom when I first moved to Christchurch setup in the washhouse of a house I rented in Riccarton.  But as time went on, my film cameras did not last.  So I switched to a Nikon D80 and have started to collect a few lenses for it.

So Widefocus started, to show some of my stuff, share about whats going on in my world and let others know i’m for hire(when I’m not working at my day job).

That’s my life story, Thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you again!
