So my Dad was up in Auckland for work and managed to catch a ride with him to Tauranga for the night. I stayed with an old school friend Heather. Below are some of the photos from Toby’s down below Heathers house. I went along to the old Theatre I use to work at “Bay Court“. Got to see all guys and catch up for a bit.
So I am coming into my last weekend in Auckland. I have not yet been out and taken any photos what so ever. Bad ass i know right? I have been up in Auckland for surgery relating to my nose region of my body. They did something to make it so I can breath, not snore and hopefully not have any hay-fever ever again!! So that’s my reason for not going out and taking photos in Auckland while i have a month of free time. It’s my last week so I should go out and take some i guess.
I can’t wait to get back to Christchurch. I know it sounds strange but i miss all my friends and mates down there. Some people think i’m crazy for wanting to go back there after all that has happened with the quakes and so on. But its my city, I have lived there for I think 6 years now, It’s my city, I pay rates and stuff. Looking forward to a cold beer with close mates when i get back. Though i’m not looking forward to getting off the plane to pick up Toby from the luggage claim. When we landed in Auckland I could hear him barking the whole walk from the gate to the luggage claim. You get a lot of strange looks walking a dog in an airport. But hes so cute we get away with it.

I Stumbled across this blog post and its just an amazing idea. Maybe I’ll do it one day with someone in Christchurch anyone keen?
Anyways i should head off and help cook dinner. My Dad turned up from wellington today and we are heading off to Tauranga over the next few days so maybe I’ll take my camera and take some shots. I new i should of brought my tripod with me for some HDR and night shots.
I’m not sure when i took these set of images. But I remember driving a truck for theatre show either in Palmerston North or Napier. Lets go with Napier, it seems more likely. Anyways, there had just been a rather large storm along the cost, so what better time to pull over for 30min or so, have a break and take some photos. These are all back when I had all my film cameras and my own darkroom. Man I miss film, maybe I should go buy some film cameras again and just use a scanner instead of a darkroom. Anyways, I love these black and white shots.
Working on WinterFest in Queenstown in 2009 I took these black and white film shots. This was the night that Op Shop, The Checks and some other bands played. Can’t remember them all. These range of images where taken on 35mm film then the negatives scanned into the computer. Very little if any editing on these.
Took these shots while I was out and about at night on one of my many late night photo missions. There seemed to be a bunch of Asian’s with the same idea in front of me. This is an HDR image. Basically its three shots at different exposures stacked on top of them using a program i like called Photomatix.
So when I get back to Christchurch, If I can get into the square I’ll be quite keen to take the same shots again of the damaged Cathedral and use the same processing for a before and after shot.
