So here is some shots of the last gig i did in the Theatre Royal in Christchurch. I hear it is very damaged from the feb. 22nd quake but has stood up due to the earthquake strengthening that was put in. Could be up to two years maybe til its open for use again. This was a fundraiser or a something for some company regarding the Sept. Earthquake. Can’t remember it was late 2010. Enjoy

Today we started to pack in the show. 15 XLC’s & 2 X-Subs a flowen aside with a stack of 15 Dv-Dosc in the center. Was a bit of a shit fight because the loading was right on to stage and there was not alot of room due to set being put together as well. So moving things around in the back of the truck to get to things we needed first. Which, as always the stuff we needed first was at the front of the truck. But the loading dock was the same height as our truck! Win!
We started to see we didn’t have everything we need to make everything go. So with a few phone calls the extra stuff was sent over night from Christchurch to Auckland. Normally we should have most things setup in the first day in the theatre and make noise out off all the speakers. But due to missing items things were slowed down a bit.
Big ups to the local house techs at the Civic! Very helpful and very easy to work with. The winch into the grid(highest floor in the theatre) was broken. So we had to hawl the amps and cables up by hand. Three house techs got everything up to the roof for us in about fifteen minutes. I didn’t even lift a finger besides putting a strop around each rack to make things a bit faster.
Some photos below of the first packin day.

I had to fly from Christchurch to New Plymouth to pick up the truck and drive it to Auckland. The truck had left Christchurch with the gear for 42nd Street in New Plymouth a week or two earlier and the gear for Miss Saigon in Auckland was in the front of it. Was a slow drive due to the weather being really shit. Was pouring down and was rather had to see. Stopped off in Hamilton for dinner with one of my very close friends Ruthie. She is one amazing person! Someone stole our table out side the pizza shop so we ended up eating it the back of the truck, good times. She just got a new job in Auckland, so being that I seem to spend alot of time in Auckland I should get to see her alot more! YAY!! Met the boss at the airport and picked him up and headed to our accommodation. Hes there for a month operating the show. When we turned up to the apartment, we had to lift the fold out couch down into the downstairs room so i had something to sleep on, as the room I was sleeping in didn’t have a bed. But hey, i’v stayed in worse places with work and it was only for a few nights. Below are some shots I took on day one, my flight and the drive from New Plymouth to Auckland.

Here is the shots from my very first wedding I did. What a lesson I learned that day, in fact i learned alot! Like buy some reflectors cause people squint lots on a sunny day. Figure out where they want photos taken and do a reccy so you have an idea of whats going to work and whats not going to work round that time of day. Umm, and take an assistant to carry your other cameras and lenses for quick changes.

Took this driving the truck back from a North Island tour with Op Shop and The Early Birds. It was off the main road in Kaikoura down by the beach. Not to sure what happened to it but looks like it kept some people warm for while. I quite like how to clouds turned out in this one. This is an HDR image and if I remember its about 6 stacked. 18mm, f 3.5, ISO 640. Maybe my ISO was a bit high for this shot but turned out alright, but there is a lot of noise. I gotta work on my noise reduction.
I know I was trying to post a photo a day since I got back from Auckland, but work is mental this week. Been doing 9am – mid night for the least 4 days. Next week is quite so maybe I will get some more images up and get some blogging in.

Took these shots while I was out and about at night on one of my many late night photo missions. There seemed to be a bunch of Asian’s with the same idea in front of me. This is an HDR image. Basically its three shots at different exposures stacked on top of them using a program i like called Photomatix.
So when I get back to Christchurch, If I can get into the square I’ll be quite keen to take the same shots again of the damaged Cathedral and use the same processing for a before and after shot.
